How to add skins/vehicles into the configuration file

Here's a little tutorial on editing or adding skins and vehicles to your configuration file. This is the configuration file every server uses for their gamemodes.

In this tutorial, we will be talking about the "config.vcmp.ini" file, that can be found inside the "VCMP" folder in the archive.

You can find it here:
Windows Server: http://vicecitymultiplayer.com/downloads/03z_r2/server0.3zr2(pawn)(win)(updated2).zip
Linux Server: http://vicecitymultiplayer.com/downloads/03z_r2/vc-mp-server0.3zr2(pawn)(linux)(updated2).zip
Anyway, let's get started...

Skin setup:
Try to open the "config" file in notepad, and go down to the place saying:

<<<<< START OF CLASSES >>>>>
This is where player skins are identified and set.

If you go down a bit, you'll see a text saying:

ClassDescription = Working_Class
Class = -1 61 335.5701 -233.9047 29.6466 164.1848 1 1 17 250 21 100; constructionworker1

This is the first skin of the server. It defines where the player is located when spawning, it defines the players weapons, and it defines the skin of the player.

This is how the syntax works:

Class = (0 = team / -1 = independent) (skin id) (x spawn) (y spawn) (z spawn) (z angle) (weapon 1 ID) (weapon 1 ammo)  (weapon 2 ID) (weapon 2 ammo) (weapon 3 ID) (weapon 3 ammo)

How do I insert a vehicle on my server?
It's pretty much the same thing for vehicles. You just don't need the weapon syntax!

I have edited my config file and would like to run it. How?
Be sure to rename your file to "config". The server will be looking for a file with that name. Also be sure you have set an admin password inside the config file!

How do I get coordinates?
QuoteWhat is ?build mode? and how does it work?
Build mode is a part of VC-MP where you can get coords for specific vehicles and skins.
It comes with VC-MP, so you do not need to download it from anywhere.

To activate build mode: Rename your ?gta-vc? file into ?gta-vc -d?.
Double click it (like single player) and wait till you get through the loading screen.
When that's done, simply open the chat (by clicking T), and type: /build
This will activate build mode, and your camera will not be stuck anymore.

To spawn a vehicle in build mode, do: /vehicle <VehicleIDGoesHere>
Note: Do not use < and > in the syntax! This is just for demonstration usage.
When your vehicle has been spawned, please go into it and drive it to the place desired.

To select another skin (pedestrian), do: /skin <SkinIDGoesHere>
Note: Do not use < and > in the syntax! This is just for demonstration usage.
When found the desired skin, please go to the location you'd like to get coords from.

Saving vehicle and skin coordinates:
To get your coordinates, do: /save
This will save the coordinates for your vehicles and skins. They will be saved into a newly created file in your VC-MP directory (Usually Vice City directory).
The newly created file should be having the following name: ?savedpositions?
Ignore all the zeroes in the file. Just copy the coordinates and put them into the server configuration file, ?config?. Ofcourse you should know where to place them exactly, as vehicles and skins both have a specific syntax in the file.

Attention: After editing your ?gta-vc? file into ?gta-vc -d?, VC-MP will be unable to run. In order to make it run, change it back to default. ?gta-vc?, that is.

Where do I get the skin IDs and vehicle IDs?
Skin IDs: http://hunting-arena.in/files/vcmp/vcmp-skin-id-listing.pdf
Vehicle IDs: http://hunting-arena.in/files/vcmp/vcmp-vehicle-id-listing.pdf
Weapon IDs: http://hunting-arena.in/files/vcmp/vcmp-weapon-id-listing.pdf

If you have any further questions, then please ask me! I'll be more than happy to answer them!  ;)

Good luck!

Thank you for the ID's now it will be easy for my Clan to launch his own server.
;)

By the way: is it possible to insert the tank or the bf injection in game, because i haven't seen it on any server. Hope you can tell me.

Ps: Where can I find a list with weapon id's ??

Yeah it's possible to add Tank and BF Injection, but the Tanks rocket turret is not synced.

Get weapon ID's - HERE (http://adtec.gtagaming.com/uploads/vcmp-weapon-id-listing.pdf)

I think tank will crash your game. BF Injection... hmmm... I'm not sure, but some time ago I placed this vehicle on my map and it didn't crash, so in my opinion you can add it to your config.ini.

The tank/rhino should not crash VCMP. It may make your server less stable, but it should not make it crash completely.

Thanks for answering.
So it's juseless to insert the tank, because you cannot kill anyone with it.
Thanks for posting the weapon id's.

I found a weapon which is a single rocket without any icon in the weapondisplay. It's ID number is 273. How can I shoot with it. It's possible. I shot a rocket one time, but I don't know how I did this.
Hope you can help.

Ps: Thanks for the lists.

I'm not sure, but you have to have Rocket Launcher probably. Then you can collect rockets. But as I said I am not sure.

It would not be synced even if you did shoot it, but with VCMP 0.4 things like this will hopefully be synced.

This rocket is different, it is announced in the weapon id's that it works with the multiplayer (the real rocketlauncher isn't supported). Is this a rocket of the Hunter maybe ???

Ps. It's the number 16 in the weapons list which you gave to me (the one with the pictures)

Yeah, tried it last night when I try to shoot it makes a clicking sound and it's a rocket in my players hand, yeah it's the Hunters rocket. Just a weird weapon model.

Yeah, I've noticed that. Probably happens because the both deaths are from fire, If the devs can't fix that they should change it to (Fire) .

I got a question about creating your own server. Yesterday I tried to add more cars to the general config.ini (which you get by downloading the server). I added the BF Injection and 2 Sandkings (and some weapons and armour). After I started my server there where long loadings (30 seconds and more) between the islands. So I took off the cars and just put the  weapons and the health in the config data. Now everything worked fine. Now my question is there a limit off cars you can place on your server and is this already reached inthe downloaded config.ini. Or is the problem caused by the type of cars I inserted, because I haven't seen them on any other server. If this is so which cars can I insert or can I insert any car by taking one of the existing cars out of the config.ini ???
Title: Re: How to add skins/vehicles into the configuration file
Post by: Aaron on July 09, 2007, 03:16:39 PM
Yeah there is a limit and it looks like you've reached it. So when you try to add more cars just remove one then add the new one.

It's interesting: remote detonation granates just chrash the server if the player has them already as a standard weapon. If you place them as a pickup and collect them afterwards everything works fine. They are not syncroned, but you can use them if you know how. You have to know that for the other player if you throw one of these granats away it seems to them as if you would just let it fall before your feets. So you juste have to remeber your position where you stand while you dropped the granate and if someone walks over this position while you press the detonation button he will blow up nicely  ;D.

There's something wrong with the 0.3z debug mode. If you want to place vehicles, use VC:MP 0.3x to do it.

You have to use /save or /s to save the coordinates of every location you want to be saved. After you have the coordinates, put them into server config.ini.

Use /s or /save <name>  to save the coordinates.

Then goto your Vice City directory, you'll see a file called "vc-mp_saved_coords"
Open it
Enter it in your server config file vehicle section.
Save then start the server
And there you go.

erm i would like to know the team color ID,like, team -1 (independant) is white, team 0 is grey i think, etc etc.i think i saw it somewhere but dont know :S

For people spawning cars on build mode and cant move them
You are using 0.3z,to use build mode you will need to downgrade to 0.3x,it should work there. Credits go to Juppi

Hello.

When I modify my config.ini with new vehicles (and change old ones) I very often get a server that fails to load past the initial room - with arcade music.

I'm certainly doing it right - using /s ingame to get the line to put in, then typing it in to the config file and double-checking it, saving the new config to the correct place and running the server.

Why?  I'm a bit frustrated at the moment as I was expecting this to be (fairly) easy!

Heeelp!

Thanks,
Alec.

Some cars are not supported or make the game crash. If my memory serves me right, some of those cars are the Haitian VooDoo, (with hydrolics), the cuban hermes...umm maybe be 1 or 2 more. Also, try to space your cars out a lil. I've had probs in the past when placing tons of cars in the same place, or tons of cars that are of the same model. There's also a limit to how many cars you can place ingame. I think it's 200. Try erasing a few of your cars (saving them aside so you don't lose thier place) Whitle it down to like 150, check if the server works, then add 10 checking if the server works, and so on till it crashes. I'm pretty sure it's 200 tho.

Thanks for the good (and fast) response.  Is there a list of the cars that work and those that don't.  That would be very useful!

I remember now that I do have a Cuban Hermes in my vehicles list.  Maybe deleting that will fix it.

Thanks.

Sandking [ ID 225 ]
Dodo (Always) [ ID 181 ]
Cuban Hermes [ ID 164 ]
RC Raider [ ID 195 ]
RC Goblin [ ID 231 ]
RC Baron [ID 194 ]
RC Bandit [ ID 171 ]
Police Maverick-Bot [ID 165 ]

Those crash the most in VCMP :P

Well first of all, i'm new to this comunity i'm starting to work with VC:MP servers today. :o ;)
I have "little" expirience with SA:MP pawno scripting but i see here is difrent so i need help.I found YeTi's VC Coding Tutorial and i will use them.

Ok so my problem is that i downloaded those pdf files with skin ids, weapon ids and vehicle ids but when i open them in notepad i see just ..nothing only those freak letters all around and i can't use those files even with office.
So if someone have .txt versions (or any other that can be opened easily) of those ids (skin, weapon, vehicle, pickups).
Anyway i would like to say that i played a lot VC before but currently i don't remember a lot of things so do you guys have any pictures of weapons, cars, skins, pickups  with their names etc...

EDIT: I got now pictures of cars, weapons, but i still need their IDS + skin IDS and skin pictures.

EDIT2: I see i need reader to open those files.Ok nvm i got it now i will download acrobat reader sry.

Anyway does anyone have link to see skin names with pictures?

The problem is that with vcmp you cannot mix skins of above 100 or below 100 in the same config.  All you skins must either contain only ids of under 100 or above.
Test and update me.
