1  Official Servers / Miami-Dade servers / Project Apollo Community Voice - Week 4 on: July 17, 2010, 07:36:54 pm
In last week's PACV, we mentioned that our new game mode, "Vice City Racing v3" is on its way.
This new game mode will definitely be more efficient and will try to bring back some elements from VCR v1 such as personal bests.
There is also a possibility that the next VCR release will support lap races.

With the development going on, we would like to hear from all of you and take in your opinions for VCR v3.
  • What would you like to see in VCR v3?
  • What would make you want to join VCR v3 when the server is empty?
  • What would make you choose MDR over any other server?
also... most importantly, what in the new MDR, would make you call your friends over?

Please feel free to let your imaginations run wild and surreal!
Anything out of the norm is fine as long as the idea is feasible and possible!

2  VC:MP / General Discussion / Re: Is Vice City MP still alive? on: July 15, 2010, 06:58:20 am
Please people, keep your shallow thoughts to yourselves.

In an ever changing online world, vcmp is pretty much dead.
Just take a look at how many people are actually still active: a pitiful amount.
There are however a few who continuously try to keep it alive and keep the community full of excitements.
And of course they are great resources to the community.

To name a few;
  • Vice City Duelling Championships
  • Vice City Clan Tournament
  • ULK Open Challenge
  • Miami-Dade Racing League
in the events side

  • VCMP Unofficial Squirrel Server
  • The few scripts and plugins which have been released
in the scripting side
and etc

It's most probably impossible to make the shrewd minded thinkers in this thread think straight,
but you must realise that while the so-called "pessimists" do seem to exhibit untasteful opinions,
they also do try their best to keep the community going, and they are mostly correct.

Wonder why. And also, wonder why some people have stopped trying.
Wouldn't it be because there really is no one backing "positive change"?

The obsession for deathmatching exists not because vcmp is best for deathmatching.
On the contrary, the sync makes most users wince.
I believe it is due to the fact that it has not been possible for other areas to have been developed enough.

An ever improving game keeps users in. A stagnant one makes users leave after a while.

PS. Seeing Michael has not replied since, he has probably found the correct download link.
Edit: Just thought I should mention that this was in no way directed at you, HeAD Tongue
I believe you have a deep understanding of the matter although we differ in our opinions.
3  VC:MP / General Discussion / Re: Isn't it about time? on: July 09, 2010, 09:43:55 pm
"can we get some sorta easy-to-see link to the unofficial squirrel forums here at the VCMP forums if there isn't already?" pool.

Can we swim in this pool? Cheesy
4  VC:MP / General Discussion / Re: Isn't it about time? on: July 06, 2010, 10:35:09 pm
It is.

It would mean that the dev team will officially accept the squirrel server as being part of the mod itself.
As things are going at the moment, both are compatible but do not affiliate with each other in any way at all.
5  VC:MP / General Discussion / Re: Isn't it about time? on: July 06, 2010, 10:33:07 pm
I've read through this thread and I've started wondering why this was even brought up.
The squirrel server is a third party server which does not share sources with the community or the dev team and therefore having the squirrel server associated in any way with the official site does not make sense.
Support for the squirrel server is and has always been available from http://www.vicecitymultiplayer.info/

Also, quite a few of you seem to be missing the actual facts that squirrel has proven to be better to work with and are thinking squirrel users are somehow "indoctrinated".
Would really like to know how you'd go about doing that.

If the third party server supporters seem in any way to be "fanboy"s or "indoctrinated" it is most probably because the third party server has worked like an oasis in the stagnant lands of vcmp development.

PS. The Miami-Dade servers were made official long before the third party server was created.
6  Official Servers / Miami-Dade servers / Project Apollo Community Voice - Week 1 on: July 05, 2010, 10:06:04 pm
So, as many of you know, Project Apollo is an ever expanding community, but we can't help but feel that the forums and servers just aren't active enough. Our discussion channel (#Miami-Dade) is very active as we all know, but I think if we make the forums more active it could help with those who find the forum and register. We seem to have a lot of inactive members. Anyway, getting to the point!

The Project Apollo Community Voice is a chance for the members of Project Apollo to show us what they think on the current subject at hand, which will change from week to week. Letting us know what you want may just help improve Project Apollo and it's community. Since this is the first week, there are two topics up for discussion, these are as follows.

  • Liberty/Vice Unleashed Game modes

As Project Apollo will be expanding towards the Unleashed mod when it is released to the public, the first that we're going to ask you lot is, what sort of game mode would you like to see us create? Remember our aim is to be new, exciting and original, so it has to be something that no one has thought of before!

  • Keeping our current servers interesting and increase playability!

As Project Apollo has two official VC:MP servers and a newly aquired SA:MP server, we want to know what we can do to help improve the playability of the servers and get more people interested? At the minute we have our regular players, but we need to make the servers more appealing to the new guys as well so they can become part of our community. So basically, what should we do? Probably not so easy in SA:MP, but VC:MP would be easier since there is a smaller amount of servers. Would you also like to see stats pages/player profiles for more servers?

Next Saturday we will be asking you more questions about what you want, for now discuss the current questions. We look forward to hearing what you have to say!

8  Official Servers / Racing server / Racing Information on: July 05, 2010, 09:40:37 pm
As the name of the server suggests, this is a racing server.
The races are run on an automatic system to make a continuous flow of races for the players.

Each race has a record that players can try and beat as well as four other times on the leader board to try and beat. These can be viewed with /c top5 whenever a race has been loaded.

Once the race starts you need to follow the camera pickups - these mark the route and are classed as checkpoints/gates, you must go through these to continue with the race, if you miss one you need to type /c lastcp to go back to the one you last passed. When passing through the checkpoints you will receive information on the checkpoint number, your position, race time and if your not leading, how far behind the player in front you are and how far behind the leader you are.

Once you finish the race you are given the option to vote for what race you want to see next, you will be given 3 track names and a restart race option (this is a fourth track name if a restart has already taken place). To vote for the next race simply type /c vote raceid - where race id is the number in brackets next to the race name. (If no votes are made a random race will be chosen).
[Taken from the Project Apollo Wiki]

      You can also build races.
A detailed tutorial is provided at the following webpage.

      10  VC:MP / Support / Re: cant connect to favourite server on: May 05, 2010, 01:34:37 pm
Your IP has been range-banned on a few hosted servers.
This is because a user was abusing an exploit in the official vcmp server, causing them to crash.

Until the problem is fixed, any user connecting from your subnet won't be able to connect to any of those servers. (ie. Argonath, Miami-Dade, XE, etc)
      11  Official Servers / UltraMegaServer / Re: server closing :( on: April 28, 2010, 10:53:12 pm
Not somewhere this should be posted but I believe HeaD's signature may be offensive to a few forum users and therefore should be taken down.

      Just a thought Wink

PS. Stop trolling for no reason since you're the one looking stupid here HeaD.

No idea about Deathkiss ourselves HeaD...
We've only heard that his copy of VC is corrupt and therefore he does not play it anymore.

It has been quite some time since we heard from him...
Come back if you're reading this post Deathkiss! Tongue

We have at last started to document our clan's history.
The current document can be found at this link.

The list is missing many many details, especially regarding the first year.
Hopefully it shall be filled up soon!
