Vice City / Extension of the game's soundtrack
« on: February 24, 2012, 06:56:27 am »
I had this idea while reading another thread in this section. Vice City's a work of art and the music in it played a great part in making this game what it is. Unfortunately, after spending hundreds of hours playing the game, people might begin to get tired of the songs it featured. That's why I'm thinking of putting together a list of 80s hit songs that were released before the year Vice City takes place in... the songs would belong to different genres but all of these genres would have already been portrayed by radio stations that Rockstar created. This way people will have more music to listen to and they'll also retain the 80s feeling and atmosphere of the original game.

Examples of songs I'll add to the list:

Emotion 98.3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vb11IwYHGcI

Fever 105: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5ZuagSaKjw

V-Rock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIM4gmho8P0

Flash FM: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aa911_8TP2s

Wave 103: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dieyKlIpx0

Espantoso: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tW_BwauQ__0

Wildstyle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3PqwgetDBQ

What do you guys think? Should I go ahead and publish a list of iconic 80s songs that people can add to their User MP3 station? When I see videos of people playing Vice City and they use Lady Gaga or Katy Perry songs as background music I feel like it disrupts the feeling that Rockstar tried to convey.

If there's interest in this I'll go ahead and publish that list... I would even go as far as to upload the songs myself so that people can just drop them into their User Track station but I'm afraid that would violate the forum rules.

mIRC/pawn Scripting / Scripting
« on: February 14, 2012, 08:11:38 am »
Hey. I don't have much experience scripting (only know Pascal because I had to learn it in University) but I'm interested in creating a server to accommodate roleplayers. For now I want to write a simple "cops and robbers" script for practice, just so I can become familiar with VC-MP and get to know what limitations it might have. This is why I'm posting here; I'm fairly new to VC-MP so I know virtually nothing about it. What language does it use? Are there any guides available out there that you can point me to? Any information's welcome.

PS: I would've refrained from creating a new thread but the "wiki" this site links you to doesn't seem to be working.
