Repeat: someone tried to run server on 64 bits?

When i've ran Windows servers at home for testing, it has always been on 64bit. My home server currently runs Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 and my main PC runs Windows 7 Home x64.
There are no problems running 32bit applications on a 64bit windows powered machine since it has a 32bit emulation layer which works really well.

Linux on the other hand... you need to install something to run 32bit binaries on a 64bit linux operating system. Some may already have this installed, like Ubuntu. Personally i havn't tried it on a 64bit linux system.

General Discussion / Re: VC:MP Packet
March 25, 2011, 11:40:35 AM
If you mean the Query packet, then it does start with VCMP like hanney said. Fairly sure the packet structure is the same as SAMP.

Off the top of my head, the query packet starts like this:

VCMP<4byte IP><2byte port><Packet ID>

Packet ID would be where you ask for Players, Server Data or Ping. Ping is a lowercase 'p' i think.

In the case of ping, a further 4 bytes are sent with the timestamp of when it was transmitted from the server (i think, been a while since i looked at it)

Hope this helps :)

All the servers i host are on Linux. Some are on Debian, some are on Gentoo.

As for the memory leak, i think it affects all builds on linux, unsure about windows.
Currently XE and a few other servers don't suffer from the memory leak on my Gentoo server, but i am unsure why and the same binaries have a memory leak on the Debian system. The only problem with that server is it wont run Pawn based servers, so its stuck on the old mirc ones and squirrel.

General Discussion / Re: Server Hosting !

Just like to add to this, i do also offer Pawn server hosting but it was removed from the site months ago due to it having problems on one of my servers. Its now back on the site and available to order.

My hosting also features free, optional, web hosting and a subdomain on vrocker-hosting.co.uk.

The only issues with both mine and Juppi hosting is that the pawn server suffers from the memory leak, The squirrel and non-pawn server does not suffer from it on my hosting though.
If you don't know what the memory leak means, it will crash when the server runs out of memory, which seems to only be once or twice a day on active servers, but has an auto restarter added in case it does die.

Also on payment methods, i accept Google checkout as well as PayPal.

General Discussion / Re: Vc-mp

Originally, VC-MP was the test code for SA-MP by the team before SA was released, so they do share some code at the base.

The SA-MP team stopped working with VC-MP many years ago and now its developed by maxorator, Falcon and bakasan. They aren't active lately though.

I'm also interested to know where you obtained that source from, since i'm the one who made it.

I only gave a handful of people the source and asked them not to give it out. There is an r2 version but the source is only available to a handful of people due to it being a security risk to vcmp. You will be unable to modify the source you currently have without knowing a lot about the internal networking structure of vcmp, which can be hard to learn.

A minimal bot _could_ be released but i'd want permission off the developers first, since i doubt they'd be very happy. That and its exploitable even without the source.

So bottom line, go prod some randomers to join your server :)

Only issue with linux server hosting with vcmp is the memory leaks...

Happens on 1 of my boxes, not on the other though :/

VC:MP Clans / Re: [VU] Vice Underdogs
December 14, 2010, 02:27:33 PM
Its back for the moment, the VU site is still on my old server which is soon to be taken offline.

It will be transferred to the new host soon, where there wont be any more problems

Its a common problem to GTA:VC on Vista and 7. No idea what causes it though, i used to rarely have it but now i get it everytime i run vc.

Very annoying :(

Dont forget about Mumble!

Has better sound/latency imo compared to vent and ts.

Voice comms built in would be a good idea, but its fairly difficult to do.
You've also got to think about how you'd configure stuff like transmit volume, ptt key, voice activation, echo cacenllation and mic select. Bearing in mind vcmp has no proper GUI system, so i cant see this being put in.

Seems doubtful vcmp will have voice due to its not really needed though. Mumble 3D positional audio via the Link interface would be nice though, seems to work nicely in LU :)

lol :)

Just a quick note, just fixed a small issue where some servers wouldn't appear on the internet and official lists. All servers should now appear fine.

Download in the usual place :)

It seems to be random and happen to differant people.

I'm running win7 x64 on my main comp and win7 x86 on my lappy. Doesn't happen on either of them.
Tis a strange bug...

This error would occur when VC cant detect more than 12MB of usable graphics memory (NOT system memory).

This would happen due to bad/no graphics drivers installed. It may also happen if all the graphics memory is being used. Since it worked before i would say his system has either broken itself, or hes uninstalled the drivers without knowing what hes doing. Or hes running another game in the background on a low end graphics card with very little vram.

Kingston: Can you provide us a screenshot of the display tab in dxdiag (If your running XP, go to start -> run then type dxdiag In vista or 7, type it in the start menus search thingy)

This will say the graphics card, driver information and detected graphics memory, aswell as any problems detected.
