Racing server / Vice City Racing v3 goes public!
September 07, 2010, 01:51:13 PM
Vice City Racing v3
After a successful public beta over the last five days we have managed to fix all the known bugs in the script and are now at the stage where we can publically release the script on our official Miami-Dade Racing server (project-apollo.co.uk:5192). We have put a lot of working into making it better than VCR v1 and v2, all the old features in VCR v1 have returned and been improved on as well making sure the VCR v2 features are also improved on. With the addition of lap races we are aiming to make this one of the best racing experiences available on VC-MP. Here is a list of some of the features that we have;

  • Cash based speedo (toggle with /c speedo)
  • Player based checkpoint streamer, making it easier to find your way around
  • Reversed starting grid! Finished the previous race last? You will start first in the next one
  • Improved functionallity
  • Lap races
  • IP2Country retrieval for use in stats
  • New look and layout from the previous versions
  • AFK System, need to go afk? Type /c afk to stop being included in the races, type /c afk again to return.

These are just a few of the things in VCR v3, go and check out the server to see for yourself! A full list of server commands can be found here, make sure you read up on them before joining the server!

Racing server / Vice City Racing v3 [Public Beta]
September 02, 2010, 09:31:46 PM
Today, Project Apollo are happy to announce that the script for the Miami Dade Racing server has now gone into the stages of Public Beta for Vice City Racing v3. We felt that VCR v2 was a bit of a let down after v1 with some features being left out of the initial release of the script. VCR v3 has gone back to the roots of VCR v1 and improved on this massively.

Returning VCR v1 Features:

- Personal bests.
- Gap to record.
- Cash based speedo (togglable between kph/mph)
- Average speed on race/lap finish.

New Features:

- New layout.
- Per player Checkpoint Streamer.
- Reversed starting grid.
* Finished the previous race last? Fear not, you will start first in the next!
- Improved functionallity.
- Lap races (only Teh-Lap is a lap race so far).
- IP2Country to retrieve the Country that you are connecting from.
- Things that were broke in VCR v2 now work!

Updates:

- Fixed a bug with races not loading.
- Fixed a bug where players with high pings would be sent to the stadium roof.
- Fixed a bug where a manual login wouldn't update your auto-login IP information.
- Fixed a bug where you get a DNF stat if the race was manually restarted or changed by an admin.
- Fixed a bug in the displaying of the race name on lap races.
- Fixed a bug where vote options wouldn't always be generated properly.
- Fixed a bug where players wouldn't be given a car if they failed to finish the race if an admin manually loads/restarts the race.
- Fixed a bug relating to the vote options where the races would fail to load when it came to counting the votes.
- Fixed a bug where the checkpoint streamer was trying to create too many checkpoints.
- Fixed a bug where empty grid slots weren't being filled up when they should have been.
- Fixed a bug where empty cars were being left around the map.
- Fixed a bug where passengers could use /c lastcp, /c flip and /c vr.
- Fixed a bug where you were classed as failing to finish the race if you weren't at the start.
- Fixed a bug where players weren't healed when a new race was started.
- Fixed a bug with (Team-)Kill messages not being sent to the echo channel.
- Fixed a bug where kicking/banning the only player on the server wouldn't reset the server status.
- Fixed a bug where the grid and car reservations were still stored even though the server was empty.
- Fixed a bug to do with sending the gap to the record time.
- Fixed a bug with the checkpoint streamer randomly going tits up (Those that took part in the public beta have made this hugely easier to fix than it was in private testing).
- Fixed a bug where all players would finish the race and send the countdown timer too far loading up races and skipping things.
- Fixed /c lastcp telling you that your going back to the last checkpoint and the starting line.

- Added the ability for the script to tell you how many laps behind you are.
- Blocked any fighting sync so players can only be hurt by vehicles.
- Added in /c commands
- Added in gap to 2nd when your leading.

All commands can be found here.

The script was writen from scratch and was left for a few months but I finally decided to come back to it :P.

Feel free to come and join us on project-apollo.co.uk:5198 or at our echo channel #Miami-Dade.Beta

Miami Dade Capture the Car Tournament

Welcome to the Miami Dade Capture the Car Tournament, this is a team tournament based off the well known Capture The Flag gamemode which is played on various different games.

Capture The Car involves two teams of five, who take it turns to attack/defend the given car at a base of their choice from the provided list, there are 4 rounds in a match, two chances to attack/defend. Matches can end in a draw and a referee will be present at all matches.

The tournament will follow the well known format of Group stages, Knock-out rounds, and the final. In the group stages there will be one match against each team, winners scoring 2 points, 1 point for a draw and then 0 points for a loss. The top two from each group will go through, if there is a tie between two teams that could make it through, individual round wins will decide who gets through.

Knockout stages are unable to end in a draw, and deciding rounds would have to be played to figure out the winner, same for the final round.

The bases that will be used for the event will be announced at a later date once a sufficient amount of teams have entered.

Rules -:

No glitching is allowed.
Teams are 5 v 5.
If a team fails to turn up they will grant the victory to the other team 4 rounds to 0.
Team members are able to respawn once they have been killed.
To win a round, the car must reach the base of the attackers.
The defending team cannot move their car to a safe hiding spot.
All matches must be refereed.
If the car hasn't been captured after 5 minutes, the defending team will win the round.

Weapons -:

Everyone is able to use the Stubby/Shotgun, Colt/Python and MP5/Uzi/Ing, however for the special weapons (M60,Flamethrower,Sniper,Rocket Launcher, M4 & Spaz) there is only one of each allowed per team. For example, if player 1 had a Spaz, no one else would be allowed to use the Spaz. The Rocket Launcher, Molotovs and Snipers will have a limited amount of ammo for game balance.

Team Entry -:

Team Name:
Leader:
Entrants (max of 5 players):

Teams may exist of players from various different clans, they aren't tied to just clan members from one clan

To enter a team into this event, click here.

Referees -:

If you wish to become a referee for a match or two then get in touch with either me, Killer or Windlord and let us know what you would like to referee,
glitching or general gameplay.

Notes

Thanks to Killer and Windlord for helping out with this event.

Time for the 5th installment of PACV, been one month already! Didn't really get much feedback on VCR v3 ideas which is still being worked on, just slowly. The topic of interest this week is, Maps.

  • Maps!
    Project Apollo: Freeroam was the first of the Project A servers to features a live server map showing where everyone is in-game, we liked this feature and want to know - Do you think we should use it on more of our servers? For example should our LU servers and VCR v3 have a live map? Let us know!

It's time once again for the next installment of PACV, the rage topic that we posted last week got a good response and it was interesting to see that most of you were in agreement with the fact that a good percentage of the rage was down to VC-MP's sync.

  • Racing Craze
    When we first released Miami-Dade Racing there was a huge craze for it, everyone wanted to get involved, there were various ideas for new race types and we even had one best racer/tammer etc of the month. The craze for MDR has long since died out but what we wanna know is, Will it ever come back and what can we do to help this? With Vice City Racing v3 on the way, will this re-kindle the craze that everyone had? Guess we'll have to wait and see, since VCR v3 goes back to the roots the started off MDR with more features than VCR v2 and features from VCR v1 making a return.

It's time for the second week of PACV so get ready to answer the question of the week. As for the first week it was interesting to read what some of you said about starting events and stuff and generally having more active admins/players. I've been joining a few times this week and the player count has been around 7 / 8 for us, not much I know but it's a lot to what we normally have :P. Now for the second installment.

  • Miami-Dade Racing
    Vice City Racing was a break through for the mIRC scripting language when Juppi and Mattz first opened the server way back in 2008, last year it got converted to the Squirrel scripting language and it is still going strong, all though slightly on the empty side at times. However, what we want to know is What makes you rage? I notice a lot of rage can come from VCR but what exactly is it that causes that? VCMP's 1 mile safety radius around each car? The tracks? The vehicles? Let us know!

As most of you probably know there were two optional updates for the R2 client, the latest one coming on the 17th Jan 2010. However it makes me wonder why you added in some shitty little thing to the server which checks the players client version rather than forcing them to update.

There are a lot of players out there who are wanting to play VC:MP but have the old client, therefore they are getting kicked from servers and being sent a message to update their client, however most of them have no fucking idea what the hell that means and continue to try and join the servers which require the latest patch.

Quote
[Thu - 18:26:11] <@Spaner> ** [ 0 ] yovani has joined Miami-Dade Racing.
[Thu - 18:26:45] <@Tammer> -AdminServ- Auto-Kicked:[ yovani ] Reason:[ Outdated R2 client ]
[Thu - 18:26:45] <@Spaner> ** [ 0 ] yovani has left Miami-Dade Racing. (Kicked)

All of the Miami-Dade servers and LWs are getting a flood of that everyday because players simply haven't updated to the new client and probably don't know how to, or they have updated but because someone thought that the default VC Directory on the install should be "C:\GTA Vice City" they think they have updated and every thing is fine.

Obviously this isn't the case and there a lot of players who can't get on a server because they have the old client and don't know how to update, therefore they probably rage quit and are never to be seen again.

Why didn't you just force everyone to update to the 17.01.10 client rather than making it an option? I hope that if this so called new patch comes out that you actually make it so that you have to update to it to connect to the new servers, otherwise you are refused connection for an outdated client or something.

Therefore you will probably get a lot more players actually playing VC-MP than those getting kicked for old clients and more than likely rage quitting as they don't know how to update. Maybe you should give clearer instructions on how to update to the new client?

That's all for now!

General Discussion / R2 Bug - Control freezing
January 24, 2010, 11:23:44 PM
Since we've updated Miami-Dade Racing to R2 we've noticed a small bug which is caused by freezing players.

At the start of each race we freeze the players and then force them into a car specified for them. The bug is that the other players appear outside of the cars up until the controls are restored to the player, on your screen you are actually in the car.

Another bug is that sometimes we can't exit vehicles when the flip over, any reason for this?

Also has remove marker been fixed? Would be nice if we could remove map markers without having to leave the server.

mIRC/pawn Scripting / Fixed included new.pwn
January 14, 2010, 04:27:51 PM
I've seen that a lot of people are having problems with the included new.pwn for the Windows pawn server so in under about 2 minutes I fixed it. (Not sure how as I don't even know pawn)

Anyway, line 1 needs to be:

#include <a_vcmp.inc>

And then the RequestClass needs to be changed too:

public OnPlayerRequestClass( playerid, classid )
{
printf( "OnPlayerRequestClass( %d, %d )", playerid, classid );
SetPlayerPos( playerid, 1958.3783, 1343.1572, 15.3746, 0.0, 0 );
return 1;
}

I know the Linux version compiles but this is so you can see what the problems are/were. :P

EDIT:

These are the functions that you can use for the dini.inc considering it doesn't show its functions in the side bar!

Quote
native dini_Exists( filename )
native dini_Remove( filename )
native dini_Create( filename )
native dini_Set( filename, key, value )
native dini_IntSet( filename, key, int value )
native dini_Int( filename, key )
native dini_FloatSet( filename, key, Float:value )
native dini_Float( filename, key )
native dini_BoolSet( filename, key, Bool:value )
native dini_Bool( filename, key )
native dini_Unset( filename, key )
native dini_Get( filename, key )
native dini_IsSet( filename, key )

Example: dini_Set( "/test.ini", "cow", "moo" );

Don't forget you need to actually have a test.ini already made in the scriptfiles folder where the vcmp-svr.exe is located.

Script Showroom / FBS v0.2 (Force's Beginner Scripts)
October 21, 2008, 06:12:56 PM
Force's Beginner Scripts V0.2

Main Scripter: Force - Helpers: Windlord, Tommis, rulk, Juppi

Well, I've finally got round to releasing Force's Beginner Scripts, Version 2. They are done using VRocker's new DLL and I have been working on it heavily to improve it over v0.1. However, Not all of the work has been done by me, if it wasn't for Windlord, Juppi, Tommis and rulk then I would never have got these done. So a big "thanks" goes out to them  ;) Also, credit has to go to to VRocker for creating such a nice DLL with some nifty features.

I have also incorporated Windlord's CarDB for the !car commands etc. Another thanks to him for allowing me to do so.

Download the scripts here: FBS v0.2
Mirror provided by VRocker: VRocker's Mirror

Note: The scripts do come with a mIRC client so it should be fairly easy to set up, if you have any problems what so ever, then let me know, and i will try and fix them.

Hi,

I've had this problem for a while with VRocker's new DLL where it returns Unknown for the name of Skimmers and Boats...

Here is a screenshot:

Any ideas on how to fix this? I am using the latest version of the DLL (1.0.0.3), also, I think there may be a different entry number for the boats and skimmers because on every other vehicle, I get the message saying you entered a blah (Scripted it in) but not for the skimmer. Are there more entry methods other than 18 and 17?

Cheers,

Force

Script Showroom / Force's Beginner Scripts v0.1 (FBS)
August 21, 2008, 02:15:22 PM
Over the past few weeks me and other people that I know have been steadily working on FBS. I have got to say a big thanks to them and I hope they enjoyed helping me to test and debug the scripts.

All the information that you need will be in the readme's that come in the zip file, there is also a mirc.exe provided with it all set up. All you will need to do is load the scripts and follow the instructions. (Thanks goes to Windlord for the bits and pieces that get you connected to the server).

Don't forget to place a copy of your config.ini into this folder for the added fuctionality.

Those that have helped me and deserve credit are: Windlord, Orpheus, rulk and Tommis, as well as my tester's, j.king and Zegro.

Anyways, the link to download FBS is below, thanks to Windlord for providing a download link to the file. (If you would like to provide a mirror, paste your link and I will add it asap).

Thanks

I got bored just now and decided to whip up a quick gotoloc and saveloc script for sansan. Admittedtly the alias's have come from Tommis' GUS 9.0 ;)

on *:SIGNAL:vcmp.event.gamecmd {

  elseif ($2 == !gotoloc) {
    if (!$3) vcmp.adminmsg $1 Error - Missing Information, $2 <Name>
    elseif (!$vcmp.name.getloc($3-)) vcmp.adminmsg $1 Error - Absent/Wrong Location Name
    else {
      vcmp.adminmsg $1 Taking you to location name: $chr(91) $vcmp.name.getloc($3-) $chr(93)
      vcmp.setloc $1 $vcmp.axis.getloc($3-)
    }
  }

  elseif ($2 == !saveloc) {
    if (!$3) vcmp.adminmsg $1 Error - Missing Information, $2 <Name>
    else {
      vcmp.adminmsg $1 Location Saved - Name: $chr(91) $3- $chr(93)
      !writeini -n vcmp.locations.ini LOCATIONS $round($vcmp.hgetpos.x($1),3) $+ , $+ $round( $vcmp.hgetpos.y($1),3) $+ , $+ $round( $vcmp.hgetpos.z($1)),3) $3-
    }
  }

;--- Go To Loc Alias'

alias vcmp.name.getloc {
  var %a = 0
  while (%a <= $ini(vcmp.locations.ini,LOCATIONS,0)) {
    if ($1 isin $readini(vcmp.locations.ini,LOCATIONS,$ini(vcmp.locations.ini,LOCATIONS,%a))) !return $readini(vcmp.locations.ini,LOCATIONS,$ini(vcmp.locations.ini,LOCATIONS,%a))
    !inc %a
  }
}
alias vcmp.axis.getloc {
  var %a = 0
  while (%a <= $ini(vcmp.locations.ini,LOCATIONS,0)) {
    if ($1 isin $readini(vcmp.locations.ini,LOCATIONS,$ini(vcmp.locations.ini,LOCATIONS,%a))) !return $gettok($ini(vcmp.locations.ini,LOCATIONS,%a),1,44) $gettok($ini(vcmp.locations.ini,LOCATIONS,%a),2,44) $gettok($ini(vcmp.locations.ini,LOCATIONS,%a),3,44)

mIRC/pawn Scripting / help with unban
July 16, 2008, 09:19:51 PM
Hey,

I have been using sansan for my new server that I have made and i have a question about the unbanning.

I have changed vcmp.ban to write to a text file like so:

!write vcmp.banned.txt Banned: $vcmp.hgetname($vcmp.nameid($1)) - By Admin: $vcmp.hgetname($1) - IP: $vcmp.hgetip($vcmp.nameid($1)) - Reason: $iif($2,$2-,)

However, When i unban someone i want to remove them from this file, how would i go about doing so?

Help will be appreciated :)

Cheers,
