General Discussion > Vice City
Extension of the game's soundtrack
Caravela:
I had this idea while reading another thread in this section. Vice City's a work of art and the music in it played a great part in making this game what it is. Unfortunately, after spending hundreds of hours playing the game, people might begin to get tired of the songs it featured. That's why I'm thinking of putting together a list of 80s hit songs that were released before the year Vice City takes place in... the songs would belong to different genres but all of these genres would have already been portrayed by radio stations that Rockstar created. This way people will have more music to listen to and they'll also retain the 80s feeling and atmosphere of the original game.
Examples of songs I'll add to the list:
Emotion 98.3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vb11IwYHGcI
Fever 105: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5ZuagSaKjw
V-Rock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIM4gmho8P0
Flash FM: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aa911_8TP2s
Wave 103: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dieyKlIpx0
Espantoso: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tW_BwauQ__0
Wildstyle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3PqwgetDBQ
What do you guys think? Should I go ahead and publish a list of iconic 80s songs that people can add to their User MP3 station? When I see videos of people playing Vice City and they use Lady Gaga or Katy Perry songs as background music I feel like it disrupts the feeling that Rockstar tried to convey.
If there's interest in this I'll go ahead and publish that list... I would even go as far as to upload the songs myself so that people can just drop them into their User Track station but I'm afraid that would violate the forum rules.

Possibly one of the dumbest things I've heard in a while.

You haven't seen them but they're out there, aswell as countless Dubstep songs. Let it be known that I'm not criticizing any artists or genres here, it's natural for people's tastes to differ and there's a place for everything. Everyone's free to listen to whatever they like. I'm not even suggesting that people should be listening to these songs, people should do whatever's enjoyable for them. I'm saying that for those of us who appreciate the world that Rockstar created, this is way to delve deeper into the music made during the time-period Vice City takes place in. Considering that the VC soundtrack is one of the best-selling video game soundracks of all-time I'd think that there's a lot of people interested in 80s music.

I like that idea.

You're right, thanks for the tip! I'll replace it with "Shout at the Devil".
Nice suggestions too, thinking of using a few. Master of Puppets was one of my favourite albums growing up, thought it's pure thrash metal and kind of lacks the glam vibe of the other bands so I'm not sure if it'll blend in with the rest... Then again, V-Rock played "Raining Blood"...
