Okay I just downloaded VC:MP Browser from here: http://vcmp.liberty-unleashed.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=419.0

Do I put it into my vice city installation location?

pfft, kid huh? If you knew better you wouldn't even reply with "stop bumping" because that is bumping yourself. Just making it clear. It's just I want to play the game and nobody seems to answer.

Sorry for bumping but I just really want a solution for this!

I get the same problem... I have no audio so I was thinking that was the problem too. I did everything, changed the compatibility (see no use of this idea since I'm already running it on XP) and deleted gta_vc.set.

C:\Users\<YOUR USERNAME>\Documents\GTA Vice City User Files\ , delete the file "gta_vc.set"

If that doesn't work your fack'd :)
Then I'm "fack'd". I already did that. Like I said, it's a Vista/7 compatibility issue with the executable itself.
*Bump!*

Towncivilian just found a solution! Copy your .set file from "C:\Users\<Username>\Documents\GTA Vice City User Files\" to "C:\Users\Public\Documents\GTA Vice City User Files\" while you have the "Run As Administrator" and "Windows 98/ME" compatibility settings set on the vc-mp.exe!

Proof:

There is no C:\Users\Public\Documents\GTA Vice City User Files\ for me. My GTA Vice City User Files are directed in my documents and that's it.

Lol pfft, definitely not.

Worked on SA:MP and it's pretty decent. Definitely not.

Hi people,

Dang, so many problems...

Okay anyway, this is really starting to annoy me now. Everytime I go on VC:MP, there are no servers on the internet. I attempted to manually add a server ip but still it doesn't work.

It appears with "Retrieving info..." I'm not even banned in any server.
I also had this problem for GTA SA:MP.

Help! I get the same problem.. but for me when loading as single player, it crashes just after the intro video and leaves with the following notification: "gta-vc.exe has encountered a problem and has to close".

How do I get Vice City Multiplayer to work? :)

Where can I get that? And wouldn't that mean I won't be able to join updated servers like XE?

Hi people,

It seems I have fixed my problem but another one lies behind it..  :'( Everytime I go on VC:MP it says "gta-vc.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close". As well as that it LOADS as single player and crashes after the intro vid.

Vice City works perfectly.

Argh, dang. Guess that's it then.

I re-installed GTA Vice City in a new folder, and I'm about to download VC:MP!
Any suggestions so I don't get the same issue where single player loads up and it crashes witht his notification: "gta-vc.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close".

Because I don't want it to happen again! :D

Aren't dll files speedometers? I've deleted them remember but now it comes up with this error: "The application has failed to start because mss32.dll was not found"

You installed VC:MP in another directory and after that you just moved to the VC Directory.

Correct, sir.
So now I have to reinstall it and put it in the correct directory? I did this, still didn't work.
This is why people are telling me to reinstall my whole vice city. (Still, please keep the answers coming and not just "reinstall vice city")

PS: I hope you don't have a modified Vice City. If yes, try an original version, without any mods.

Forgive me for asking but where are mods located? what are they lol? :P I don't think I ever used them. (Maybe I do, I don't know, my friend gave me GTA and he might have installed mods)

Hi people,

So at first I had this problem where when I load up VC:MP and it runs in single player after that it crashes with the following notification:"gta-vc.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close".

I didn't know how to fix this. I tried everything that was asked, changed the compatibility mode to windows 98/Me, deleted gta_vc.set. I understand this was because I accidently installed VC:MP in the wrong directory BUT THEN AFTER I LOCATED IT IN EXACTLY WHERE IT WAS MEANT TO BE, and still... it doesn't work!?

Is there any way I can fix this issue?

Now this was another problem I encountered, after messing around with the files I deleted a dll file (which is pretty hard to do) since people were saying that was the problem,  now everytime I load up VC:MP it says "The application has failed to start because mss32.dll was not found"

With this said, I recovered the file and put it in the folder, but it still appears with the same error:
"The application has failed to start because mss32.dll was not found"

Is there any solution to this problem or do I have to re-install vice city (vice city works perfectly btw, it's just when I load VC:MP) I think I have to re-install vice city and this time install VC:MP in the right directory.

Please carefully read all of this and thanks for doing so. :P
