Title: help! error during loading bar

Whenever I try to connect to a server, the multiplayer loading screen comes up and then it freezes at about 1/8th.
I'm running 1.0 with a crack (torrented) and Liberty city mod. I suspect this is the reason it wont work, so if anyone knows how I could get around this without buying the game, please let me know. I'm not sure why mounting the play disc image doesn't work.

Remove the Liberty City mod or get a legal copy (not Steam).
