Servers / Miami-Dade: Destruction - Release: 19th-21st October

Project Apollo unvails brand new server for their Miami Dade family

Today, Project Apollo's Miami Dade family have announced that a brand new server will be making it's way into the VCMP world between 19th-21st October 2012. The brand new server, which will be known as Miami-Dade: Destruction (MDD) is the latest in the Miami Dade servers as it once again aims to rewrite what you thought was possible with VCMP scripting. Once again, MDD will be using Project Apollo's accounts system, Project Apollo Community which was released almost a year ago now boasts a strong 3000+ user base and serves 4 (soon to be 5) servers.

MDD is a pure and simple destruction derby gamemode which takes the usual car smashing, tyre popping, engine exploding madness and gives it a twist. Each event will last for up to five minutes as up to 16 players try and battle it out to score the most points possible across either a straight out 'Pit of death' or a 'Tamtastic oval'. This isn't about going fast, well, it is, but you actually have to hit things this time.

Some of the features that MDD holds for the players are as follows:
-   9 unique weapons such as low gravity, tyre popping and EMP pulses that will either aid you or hinder your opponents.
-   Per-player setting of certain game settings such as gravity, game speed and flying cars - this hasn't been done before in VCMP.
-   Per-player and global stats tracking, including 22 achievements via the PAC system.
-   Points which are dynamically handed out whenever you run into your opponents.
-   Survival system which rewards those who manage to keep their car in running for longer periods of time.
-   Tamming, lots and lots of tamming.

Miami Dade: Destruction will be running on the old Madness server (project-apollo.co.uk:5194) for the forseeable future as the activity level of Project Apollo starts to slowly rise again now that it's getting towards the end of the year.

Hopefully, we will get more tammers than you can shake a stick at over next weekend (19th-21st October 2012) and we look foward to seeing what crazy shenigans you manage to get up to!

To stay up to date with the release of Miami Dade: Destruction, stay glued to our forums (http://project-apollo.co.uk) over the next week!

Racing server / Miami-Dade: Racing - Online
« on: January 16, 2012, 01:36:11 am »
Miami-Dade: Racing back online!

The Project Apollo management are happy to announce that MDR is now back online for everyone to enjoy. See our previous announcements for what we've done over the past half a year.

It's been a long wait but it's finally here, hope you all enjoy it. Just remember DO NOT USE a hotmail/live e-mail address else the server will moan at you. (Oh and make sure it's valid, you'll need it.)

As always donations are welcome!

Head to 91.237.197.34:5192 to join the server now and don't forget to add 91.237.197.34:5192 to your favourites!

Other News

We are sorry to announce but for the forseeable future, we have closed down the Madness and Conquest servers. It's not that we don't care, it's more a case of the servers don't have an active enough player base to warrant them running. The re-release of the Racing server starts the big changes that are and will be happening to Project Apollo, unfourtanetly, this is one of those changes.

Thank you to everyone that used and abused those servers.

Miami-Dade servers / Miami-Dade: Starfish Island Conquest [LIVE]
« on: August 01, 2011, 01:52:31 am »
The Starfish Island Conquest server is a brand new server that Project Apollo will soon be running. It is a totally new gamemode which has never been seen before and has been designed with competitive and casual clan/team play in mind.

The gamemode is simple, each team starts either end of Starfish Island, there are two control points in the middle, it is your teams job to capture as many of these points as possible, the more control points you hold, the less tickets you will loose.

Each time has a limited number of respawn tickets which are lost for not holding capture points and when a player dies or gets killed. The first team that reaches 0 tickets looses. Good team work is important so playing as a clan is probably more fun than say, with randomers.

This server should be going public within the next few days and keep an eye out for a public beta tommorow (1st August)!

For more information head on over to http://project-apollo.co.uk or check out the forum at http://forum.project-apollo.co.uk

Hope to see you guys in-game over the public beta and once the server has been unveiled for general public use. :)

Miami-Dade servers / Project Apollo Community Voice - Week 5
« on: July 24, 2010, 06:02:08 pm »
Time for the 5th installment of PACV, been one month already! Didn't really get much feedback on VCR v3 ideas which is still being worked on, just slowly. The topic of interest this week is, Maps.

  • Maps!
    Project Apollo: Freeroam was the first of the Project A servers to features a live server map showing where everyone is in-game, we liked this feature and want to know - Do you think we should use it on more of our servers? For example should our LU servers and VCR v3 have a live map? Let us know!

Miami-Dade servers / Project Apollo Community Voice - Week 3
« on: July 10, 2010, 05:46:04 pm »
It's time once again for the next installment of PACV, the rage topic that we posted last week got a good response and it was interesting to see that most of you were in agreement with the fact that a good percentage of the rage was down to VC-MP's sync.

  • Racing Craze
    When we first released Miami-Dade Racing there was a huge craze for it, everyone wanted to get involved, there were various ideas for new race types and we even had one best racer/tammer etc of the month. The craze for MDR has long since died out but what we wanna know is, Will it ever come back and what can we do to help this? With Vice City Racing v3 on the way, will this re-kindle the craze that everyone had? Guess we'll have to wait and see, since VCR v3 goes back to the roots the started off MDR with more features than VCR v2 and features from VCR v1 making a return.

Miami-Dade servers / Project Apollo Community Voice - Week 2
« on: July 06, 2010, 12:09:25 am »
It's time for the second week of PACV so get ready to answer the question of the week. As for the first week it was interesting to read what some of you said about starting events and stuff and generally having more active admins/players. I've been joining a few times this week and the player count has been around 7 / 8 for us, not much I know but it's a lot to what we normally have :P. Now for the second installment.

  • Miami-Dade Racing
    Vice City Racing was a break through for the mIRC scripting language when Juppi and Mattz first opened the server way back in 2008, last year it got converted to the Squirrel scripting language and it is still going strong, all though slightly on the empty side at times. However, what we want to know is What makes you rage? I notice a lot of rage can come from VCR but what exactly is it that causes that? VCMP's 1 mile safety radius around each car? The tracks? The vehicles? Let us know!

mIRC/pawn Scripting / Fixed included new.pwn
« on: January 14, 2010, 06:27:51 pm »
I've seen that a lot of people are having problems with the included new.pwn for the Windows pawn server so in under about 2 minutes I fixed it. (Not sure how as I don't even know pawn)

Anyway, line 1 needs to be:

Code: [Select]
#include <a_vcmp.inc>
And then the RequestClass needs to be changed too:

Code: [Select]
public OnPlayerRequestClass( playerid, classid )
{
printf( "OnPlayerRequestClass( %d, %d )", playerid, classid );
SetPlayerPos( playerid, 1958.3783, 1343.1572, 15.3746, 0.0, 0 );
return 1;
}

I know the Linux version compiles but this is so you can see what the problems are/were. :P

EDIT:

These are the functions that you can use for the dini.inc considering it doesn't show its functions in the side bar!

Quote
native dini_Exists( filename )
native dini_Remove( filename )
native dini_Create( filename )
native dini_Set( filename, key, value )
native dini_IntSet( filename, key, int value )
native dini_Int( filename, key )
native dini_FloatSet( filename, key, Float:value )
native dini_Float( filename, key )
native dini_BoolSet( filename, key, Bool:value )
native dini_Bool( filename, key )
native dini_Unset( filename, key )
native dini_Get( filename, key )
native dini_IsSet( filename, key )

Example: dini_Set( "/test.ini", "cow", "moo" );

Don't forget you need to actually have a test.ini already made in the scriptfiles folder where the vcmp-svr.exe is located.
