Sounds like a firewall issue, since on the picture it seems like it failed to get the public beta server info too.

Antiwallglitch works by checking if the line of sight from the player's head to the source of the shot is clear. Sometimes it won't work because the player's head is also in the wall.

I'm still worried that someone will create an asi mod to hack VC:MP.

Even companies that spend thousands of work hours on implementing DRM get their stuff hacked in an hour. I don't have the time to waste on such futile efforts. All I care about is security, because that can actually be achieved to some extent, unlike client-side anticheat.

CLEO mods, however, can still be loaded in by whitelisting CLEO.

I tried in the last public beta test (2) to load the cleo.asi and it didn't work.
Wondering if it really works now.

CLEO mods don't work because SCM has been completely disabled.

Blocking .asi/.flt mods is not due to anticheat, it's because most of them are not compatible with VC:MP, so not blocking them would cause the game to crash if people had some of them installed.

1. I heard 0.4 will be supporting the steam version. Will it be supporting the 1.1 executable, or just putting the 1.0 executable in the folder and launching from it as a workaround?
The Steam EXE itself will be supported.

1.1. If it's supporting the actual 1.1 exe, will it still support the 1.0 exe? That sounds like double the work.
The 1.0 EXE will also continue to be supported; maxorator would be better able to explain how much work it was since was entirely his design.
Steam EXE is not the same as 1.1 EXE. 0.4 will support 1.0 and Steam versions, but not 1.1. To go into more technical details, there are separate VC:MP DLLs compiled for the 1.0 and Steam versions, and the launcher will decide which one to use based on which executable the user has. Steam version support does not require any actual source code changes to VC:MP, instead the source code that is compatible with Steam version is automatically generated from the base VC:MP source code based on address differences in the executables and a list of patches for a few parts that cannot be converted just by adjusting memory addresses.

I will make it ask it when you enter some server with downloads for the first time. So it will give an option to either allow downloads or disconnect.

While executables are not in any way executed, there still remains the risk of various security holes due to how the game loads model files. I've done my best to remove such security holes from VC, but since I do not wish to be responsible in case I've missed any, it's best to leave it up to the user to decide.

This is because the player is actually in the same position as you, but the engine places him away from you (which might depend on your angle because your colmodel is not completely symmetrical). Not a bug.

  • Killing with sparrow guns now gives helicannon as death reason instead of M4
  • Bike reversing speed is fixed.
