Asking about which is better is probably a personal question :P

 I feel better using squirrel due to the syntax overall. Squirrel servers have been improved/updated and exclusive scripting features included, so you can expect a better platform using squirrel language. But note that both languages are also limited by R2 version as well. If i had to pick one, i'd directly start learning squirrel since it is more "easier" to read, and it has a similar syntax with C++/java/etc.

This forum has exclusive PAWN scripting and general VC:MP support. I suggest you (in case you pick squirrel), submit an account in the unofficial forums which is full squirrel scripting support.

GUPS is a Script Or Software Like Notepad ++?
GUPS is a scripts. The software to use is PAWN. I might upload a video about pawn if you want.
The software you use is PAWNO. PAWN is the scripting launguage itself.

Squirrel is also a scripting language. You can use Notepad ++ if you want to write squirrel scripts.

what is gups?
GUPS is a released public gamemode/script made in PAWN. Though, the majority use squirrel platform, since the syntax is similar to C/C++/Java, pretty much easier then PAWN, and it kinda gives you more VC:MP scripting features/stability.

One question though. When we'll be able to download the 0.4 server and build our own modules. I know you said that you don't want anyone to bother you with this question. But let's say that I wan't to build a new module. Probably add support for a new scripting language like AngelScript. Wouldn't be easier if you would allow people to contribute? Who knows maybe it's just me thinking that but sometimes that speeds up development. I'm new to VC:MP but I find it interesting and would like to learn more.
VC:MP is not an open source project, neither 0.4 will ever be now. Plugins were released for the plublic in case you would like to see progress/features, both linux and windows servers will be released within a reasonable period before the final 0.4 release for servers owners to re-write/create their servers. I doubt about the chance of having more plugins compatible with 0.4 servers, besides from the Squirrel language (kinda new official language), Python, and so on. Even if you speak about speeding up the development, note that all the planned plugins are almost done, it wouldn't speed the things up if we stretch out for unplanned codding lang plugins.

Contact the server owner if it's either moderated by anyone. Keep in mind that you might be using a nickname already registered, or the login system is internally damaged (script bugged).

The last try would be re-installing your VC, rather than spending time spotting what's messing with it. Make sure you don't install anything else besides texture/hud modifications, otherwise you will damage VC engine.

Just in case, un-install and then re-install VC:MP if the problem still here.

There is no steam version support in R2 0.3z.

Anyway, the under-development 0.4 version will have VC steam support.
