I wanted to try making my own server

But I have no idea how, can anyone give me a link to a tutorial or walk me through what I need to do to get started? :-\ Thanks

How exactly is your local network organized?

Internet - Router - Server_Machine
                 |
           Random_PCs?

If it is organized like the one above, that means that your router has an external IP, not the machine you run VC:MP server on. That would mean you have the port forwarded.
