Starts Single Player When Connect (New)

This guide is for those who install VC-MP to their Vice City directory but still opens single player. (Lets just say I found out because the same thing happen to me)

WHY
The reason why it starts Single player is not because of mods. But because of any kinds of other software for Vice City. For example, I downloaded the MP3 Controller that helps me change to what ever MP3 song I like. Or it could be others. Except for FRAPS.

SOLUTION
1. You could try to identify what kind of add-on you downloaded for your single player
2. If you could not find it, re-install your Vice City

That is a good question because the VC:MP 0.1c source states a different version is required than 0.3z uses.

The most common problem with it starting in singleplayer is due to the installer for 0.3z R2. By default the installer points to the location "C:\Grand Theft Auto Vice City" which is usually not where your Vice City will be installed. Players are either unaware that it has to be installed to this folder or they don't know where there Vice City folder is. Therefore they click next and the installer just extracts the files into an empty folder.

The player will then probably open up the server browser assuming everything is ok and when they try to launch for the first time a message will appear saying "Please locate your gta-vc.exe" they will then locate it and the game will launch. The problem is however is that since the extracted files are not in the Vice City folder (mainly vcmp.flt in Grand theft auto vice city/mss) the game just loads up normally to the singleplayer menu and the person is confused.

Alternatively I think having a .dll in the root folder of Vice City e.g a mod that uses a .dll file as a component would be the speedometer/tachometer for Vice City mod. That can also cause the game to launch into singleplayer if I recall.

If you are someone reading this and you have the same problem and do not know where your Vice City folder is then it will either be...

CD/DVD installation: C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto Vice City

OR

Steam games installation: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\grand theft auto vice city

Please also note, if your computer is 32-Bit only, your folder will be named "Program Files". If it is a 64-Bit version, it will be "Program Files (x86)" as stated above. Do NOT use "Program Files (x64)" for these applications as they are 32-Bit only.

I installed both GTA3 and VC into Program Files (x86) and they both run fine :P

He's doing a better job on staying on-topic than you are. (2)

I guess people shouldn't forget though that VC-MP will only work with a clean version of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. (not GTA:VC Deluxe or any other upgraded version of VC) since it requires the default.ide of the VC game to be.... default.
